Unfortunately, due to the vague and uncertain legal and regulatory environment in the United States, PokerSavvy does not allow United States residents to sign up for SavvyPoints or rakeback offers at real money poker rooms. We regret that we need to do this and hope that the US government will soon clarify the law and create a framework that allows US-based poker players to play the game they love safely and openly. We encourage you to contact your Congressperson to express your view that poker is not, and should not, be illegal and we encourage you to support candidates at all levels that share that view.

AS-4D in the Big Blind

There is an early position raise, and one late position caller. It costs on bet to see the flop. What do you do?

Fold. While it may seem that a hand with an ace is reasonably strong, there's nothing but trouble waiting for you with this hand. Say an ace is in the flop, what are you going to do? With early position showing strength with a raise, there's a good chance you're out-kicked, meaning the other player's non-ace card is of a higher rank than yours. And while you're looking at an ace on the board, it's going to be extremely difficult to get away from this hand. Playing hands like A-4 behind a raise is the surest way to lose a lot of money.

8H-9H in the Small Blind

There is a middle position raise and two late position callers. What do you do?

Call. This is going to be a large pot, and though the middle-position raiser has shown strength, it's unlikely that you're dominated. If you connect with the flop, this could be a very profitable situation.

Next up: Post-Flop Strategy.
