Middle Position Pre-Flop Exercises

AH-KS

AH-KS in middle position. One player behind you has already raised. What do you do?

Re-raise. Again, there's a very good chance you have the best hand at that moment, but you don't want to be playing this hand against multiple opponents. You're hoping to flop top-pair, top-kicker. But with multiple players in the pot, it's quite possible that even if you do make top-pair, top-kicker, you'll still lose. So raise and do your best to isolate.

5c-5s

Everyone has folded to you, and you hold a pair of fives.

Everyone has folded to you, and you hold a pair of fives. Normally this is a fold. This is a drawing hand, and you're going to need help from the flop to make this hand stand up. If you throw in a bet, you might be raised or even re-raised. At that point if you want to call, you'd be paying a lot of money on a longshot hand.
