Frustration

from Ansky. 15 September 2008, 1:01.

Today was a very big day for me in poker.

The 25k HU WCOOP event started it off at 2:30. I played aejones, one of my best friends in the poker world first round , so needless to say I was again upset with my table draw. Given that every pokerstars pro, and about 10-20 complete no name and tourney donk was in the mix, drawing another 25/50 HU reg really sucks. Nevertheless I had to focus and just try my best. Despite losin two flips to keep jones in the game when he got short, eventually I won when the stacks were kind of shallow with 66>a5o.

Update, WCOOP, and apartments.

from Ansky. 4 September 2008, 22:22.

Lately poker has been goin absolutely great. It's nice after a long breakeven stretch to go on a big upswing to end the summer. I dropped down to 10/20 like 3-4 weeks ago to rebuild some, but I have been winning so much that I am back up to 25/50 and even higher at times if the games are good. I was having a great night tonight until I ran a monster bluff that failed miserably. Here it is:

PokerStars Game #20157486150: Hold'em No Limit ($25/$50) - 2008/09/05 1:13:24 ET
Table 'Thalia' 6-max Seat #4 is the button
Seat 4: supernova9 ($16625 in chips)
Seat 5: ADZ124 ($6292 in chips)

Acceptable and not acceptable mistakes

from Ansky. 22 August 2008, 0:00.

About a week ago, I considered making a play which I was pretty sure was bad in a FTOPS tournament, and I made it anyway. I mentally justified it by telling myself that "oh well, its just a stupid tournament, I want to double up or quit." This is just not acceptable. I take this attitude far too often in online tournaments, mainly because of a lack of patience or mental discipline. I need to state it publicly and openly in order to force myself to make sure it doesn't happen again.

And the 7th day shall be a day of Re----GRINDING

from Ansky. 28 July 2008, 2:02.

I have always thought it was funny that as a poker player, my hardest days of work will always be the general publics days of rest and relaxation. Summer, the time when people relax and take time off work and travel... is the time when I am most focused and hard at work. Sundays, when people go to church, watch football, see their family, perhaps play in a nice game of poker... I play all day, simply because no other day of the week has the same kind of action as sundays. Today there was great action at FTP, especially at the 10/20 deep tables.

A bit of an outdated comment on PokerNews

from Ansky. 26 July 2008, 13:13.

I was just thinking about this. Maybe I shouldn't mention the rival site, but raptors blog on cardrunners got a lot of attention when he went on an absolute rant about pokernews and how they mess up literally every single hand in reporting. I thought of an especially funny story on that topic from the heads up event. In the 2nd round when I eliminated tjbentham, a pokernews reporter came over to me after the hand, and asked me what happened. I told him exactly the action, and I saw him write it all down, and he STILL reported it wrong.

Reevaluation of things.

from Ansky. 22 July 2008, 1:01.

Lately the 25/50 action online has been absolutely DEAD. There is occasionally some good 25/50 6m games, but never more than 2 or 3 at a time, and its rare to see any at all. FullTilt and Stars are just about void of high stakes no limit action. Because of this, I am thinking I should stop sitting around waiting to play 2 tables of 25/50... and just move down and GRIND. I hardly play poker anymore, because all I ever do is sit around and get denied action. Or I'll see 1 good table, then get bored just playing the one table and do something else.
