Greetings!
Hello everyone.
This is my first blog. I've never blogged before.
A little bit about me. I'm currently unemployed. I was laid of in January and haven't been able to find work. Most recently because of a medical problem that's taking it's time getting better. I got a job through a temp agency but couldn't even finish my first shift because I was in so much pain and getting sick. I had some pain in my groin a few days before and I thought I had pulled something and didn't know how. The morning of my first day of work, I felt a lump in my groin when I was showering and the pain was a lot worse. It was hard to walk, sit down, stand up, etc. and I was getting fevers, chills and nausea. So much fun! I went to the hospital and had to spend a few days there because of an inflamed lymph node in my groin. The fevers and nausea are gone but the lump is still there, and slowly going away. The temp agency won't put me back to work until I get a doctor's approval saying that I'm cleared to work without restrictions. The hospital bills are going to hurt me a lot because I have no insurance. So in an attempt to keep my medical expenses down, I'm trying to get into a clinic that takes patients without insurance. Your payments are based on income. (I'm collecting unemployment) It's so difficult to get in these days as so many people are struggling because of the economy.
Anyway, about poker. Since I have all this free time, I'm focusing on learning, watching videos here at Savvy and playing a little bit almost every day trying to implement some of the things I've learned. I hope I can become good enough to have some money to fall back on in the future in case I get in a financial rut as I'm in now. And maybe provide a comfortable secondary income. I've never been in a comfortable financial situation. I've always had to live paycheck by paycheck.
I'm not very experienced at poker. After a pretty unsuccessful run at tourneys and sit and gos, I've moved to full ring games playing .01/.02 tables to focus on learning and improving my game. After redepositing $10 I'm up to $20 after a couple of weeks, playing 1 table at a time and a few hours a day. (I'll explain the 1 table thing in my next blog) I was up more, but as with everybody, I've had my ups and downs, good runs, playing against donation machines, and dry runs, and bad beats. Also making stoopid decisions! LOL
I've seen blogs here by other people who are more experienced, playing higher stakes, and live tourneys, and things unrelated to poker, and I really enjoy them. I'm learning the game and I thought it might be interesting to have a blog from a poker "baby" and post about my attempts at moving up in stakes, as well as other things.
I don't know how often I will post, but I would like to document my experiences and my growing education of the game. I hope other people can learn something from it. Poker is a great game to play, so why not get better at it?
So here's to my journey down Poker Road!
