Poker Journal Day 9
Day 9, March 4th: Pretty uneventful session. Final tabled one tournament, the $22 rebuy six max on Tilt (such a fun tournament) but instantly lost AJ to KQ for a pretty marginal score. Again ran deep in several places without much panning out and simply cashed a ton. No worries.
Got feedback on the hands from yesterday. On hand one against Brsavage some people said to check back the flop but that if you're going to bet then the call is standard of the min checkraise against this particular villain. River seems very close, quite possible that with my particular image it's not a shove for me.
On the QQ hand where I was reraised pre some people said shove pre, some said they agreed with the line, some wanted to play pre and call flop. Opinions were quite mixed on that one. I know that I don't hate shoving.
On the AT hand where I double barreled turn most wanted to just check/fold flop but some bet. Almost everyone felt that he wouldn't necessarily raise flop with his draws and that we need to check/fold this turn.
On to the interesting hands from today:
The first comes from the Tilt nightly $150. Yet again we find ourselves in a gross spot with bottom set. I posted it on 2+2 as follows:
Very early in the nightly $150. When I got to river with this awkward stack size via pot I realized I wish I bet turn bigger so I had a more natural shove. Bet sizing leak recognized. Now I had a backdoor flush completed, 4 straight out, and most of his mid pairs would be hard pressed to call a ship but might call a small bet.

The second hand came from the Stars $1000 which I posted as follows:
I had been very tight an inactive lately. No particular history with villain.
VS opponents who flat a bit much pre I want to check ship the flop, but against most guys in the 1k I don't think they flat that wide and I think they're on a level that they realize most of my hands go bet/call flop or bet/bet turn for value.
As a result I think I want to bet flop with the intention of shipping turn (or betting an amount that blatantly commits me) if called, and fold if raised. Thoughts?

Next up is a hand from the $10/r/a on Pokerstars.
I think the river bet is mandatory since there are numerous flush draws the opponent can be peeling with, as well as the occasional straight draw since it's a limped pot. Numerous higher stakes players know it doesn't make much sense for me to represent an ace either but at lower stakes I find guys will be more timid around a scare card even if it doesn't make much sense for you to have it.

Next up we have one more Stars $1000 spot which I posted as follows:
No history with particular villain. His name is $tevemoney and he has a pic of a live reg who plays a lot of the satellites and mid stakes tournaments at the WSOP who I see around year after year, but it could just be a trick. If it is him, I recall him being on the tighter side. If he's some reg I'm not aware of i'm gonna look really dumb, but that's what happens when you go AWOL for so long.
Everyone okay with the flat pre or does anyone wanna 3 ball/get it in? Anyone just fold pre?

Lastly is a hand from the Stars $50 freezeout six max. I believe it was the later one. I think the flop and turn bet are pretty standard, and as I mentioned in an entry earlier this week I think people are peeling the obvious scare card more and more these days on the turn, so I follow through with a river bet:
