Poker Journal Day 13
Day 13, March 7th: In terms of making final tables today was uneventful. I technically made one in the form of the SCOOP preview event, but there was something like 60 players and we made a chip chop four handed that got me like $1800 or some such irrelevant amount. There were a number of moderately deep runs but nothing got particularly interesting. I forgot to save the file with my few interesting hands from the day, though I did get quite a bit of feedback on the hands I posted the other day.
In the first hand I posted with J8 and hero called down, numerous people mentioned that I should consider betting the flop but nobody seemed to feel it was particularly mandatory. Most felt that once we got to the river this way we should call considering how many draws missed and how perfect the run out was, plus how weak our hand and line look.
In the second hand where I reraised AQ pre most people agreed that it was too aggressive and ambitious to 3 bet/call pre flop without history. Everyone agreed that we should just shut down on the flop once the SB makes the hyper scary flat. Those who suggested a flat said they were comfortable folding if one of the stacks behind us shoves and the opener reshoves.
In the final hand many people were okay with the entire line, though some wanted to bet the turn as well. I’ve just posted in the thread asking if people who bet the turn want to get it in, which I think is questionable since there’s just under 2000 in the pot on the turn and we have 7000 back.
