bumped for part 2! great vid Naseem. The discussion about establishing a leading game was really interesting IMO. will post more later when I have time.
I absolutely love this series Naseem. Thank you Pokersavvy for bringing Naseem on.
I've watched the first two parts and loved them. Naseem I think your hand reading/explanations show a ton of insight and thoughtfulness. I know that you have a lot to offer pokersavvy subscribers. I could watch and listen to you play people like schniblor all day. I like how you explain every hand and your reasoning for doing what you do.
I noticed that your standard with AJo was to 3bet for value/as a bluff, is there anything wrong with calling which is my standard? I would like to see you play a few more marginal spots against tough opponents like schniblor who put you to tough decisions.
One other question, exactly 20 minutes into the 2nd video, you check call with 67s on a dry 733 flop and check fold the 9 turn. This seemed very very tight to me. Was the reason you folded that Schniblor knows this is a bad spot to bluff, and because of that would not bluff often enough to make a call profitable?
I truly hope you are able to make many more videos because I can tell you are extremely insightful and great at explaining and conveying very important concepts in HU
Sweet my first question. I was getting worried nobody watched my vids. They're good I swear.
Harrison,
There's nothing wrong with flatting AJo as your standard especially in the beginning of a match without reads. However, as a match progresses you need to apply your reads into your play and figure out what play is most optimal with such a strong hand HU. If your opponent is constantly calling your 3bets, then 3betting AJo becomes more optimal as you are going to make strong hands you can stack off with a decent amount of the time and you'll have his defending range often dominated. On the other hand, if your opponent is mostly 4betting or folding, then 3betting AJo becomes almost a waste of a good hand HU because you'll either have to fold it or 5bet jam it (which is tons of fun, even if it doesnt sound like fun, it is.)
For your other question, I folded 67 on the 7339 board because it's going to be difficult for me to call a 3rd barrel and the 9 is not a very good card for Schniblor to barrel which not only strengthens his range in that spot, but he will know that if he bluffs a pretty blank 9 turn then I would assume he is planning on bluffing a large % of rivers. In that spot, if I had called that turn, I would have felt obligated to call a ton of rivers. It's just a relatively high variance calldown but I don't mind calling and reevaluating on certain rivers.
