Phil Hellmuthin Play Poker Like the Pros julkaistiin pokerihuuman alkaessa. Kirjan nimi on itse asiassa hyvin harhaanjohtava, jos pelaat kuten kirjassa neuvotaan niin häviät rahasi blindeihin eikä sinulla juurikaan ole mahdollisuuksia voittoihin. Sopivampi nimi kirjalle olisikin ollut "Kuinka pelaat pokerin 10 parasta mahdollista taskukättä"

Kirjassa esitetyt strategiat sopisivat paremmin jo menneiden aikojen tiukkoihin pöytiin. Nykyään peli on niin nopeeta ja aggressiivistä että pelkkiä monstereita ei ole varaa odotella. Hellmuth ei käsittele kirjassaan fyysisiä tellejä eikä esitä laskukaavoja tai todennäköisyyksiä vaan keskittyy kertomaan taskukorttien hierarkiasta ja että pitkässä juoksussa parhailla taskukorteilla pitäisi päästä voitolle. Muutamia eri taktiikoita miten pelataan erilaisia vastustajia vastaan (kivikyylä, sekopää/maniac jne.) kuitenkin käydään läpi.

Annan kirjalle arvosanan 2. Muille kuin ihan aloittelijoille tämä kirja on ajanhukkaa. Tämän kirjan luettuaan ymmärtää miksi Phil Helmuthia haukutaan "pokerikakaraksi". Jos pelaat sillä tyylillä joka tässä kirjassa opetetaan, olet pelkkä paisti odottamassa rahojesi kynijää.
