We have detected that you are based in the United States. Unfortunately, due to the vague and uncertain legal and regulatory environment in the United States, PokerSavvy does not allow United States residents to sign up for SavvyPoints or rakeback offers at real money poker rooms. We regret that we need to do this and hope that the US government will soon clarify the law and create a framework that allows US-based poker players to play the game they love safely and openly. We encourage you to contact your Congressperson to express your view that poker is not, and should not, be illegal and we encourage you to support candidates at all levels that share that view.

In the meantime, we welcome you to check out PokerSavvy Plus, our poker training product that is fully accessible to United States residents. Thanks for your understanding.

Step 5: Playing the Game

Unfortunately, this is not a guide about poker strategy - but we can give the following advice to newer players playing in their first Sit N' Go tournaments:

Play Tight early on! Only play Big Face Cards and Big Pairs! The mistake most players make early in a Sit N' Go is playing too many hands and seeing too many flops. You want to conserve your chips early on! Remember, we only make money when we finish in the top 3 - so avoid playing weak hands and going bust early on.
Figure Out Who Are the Sharks, and Who The Fish Are In Poker, a "Shark" is an experienced professional who knows what they're doing, and a "Fish" is a weak player, who the "Sharks" love to hunt. Try to identify who are the weak players in your game, and who are the strong ones. Try playing pots with the weak players, and avoid the strong ones at all costs.
Don't Go On Tilt! We all hate when we get all-in with Pocket Aces and lose to his 7-4 offsuit - but it happens. Don't let it frustrate you! Take a deep breath, and move onto the next hand. Our goal here is to play lots of tournaments and clear our bonuses - we'll take our small losses for the big pay-day at the end!
