Finally Shipped Something (Granted it was small)
from jurollo. 22 April 2008, 22:22.

Well I am back to playing a little better, got 11th in the FTP Million this weekend and played, in my opinion very good poker for 8 hours and found myself in the CL with 12 left with a 1st place of $184,000 I was obviously thrilled to be where I was. Top 3 paid $70k+ which would have eliminated my downswing for 2008. I likely could have glided into a 50k score by playing premium hands, however, I picked a few bad spots to play bad and ended up out in 11th. I don't want to get into the specifics but I really butchered 2 hands and it just goes to show what losing your composure can do, CL ---> Rail really quickly and the difference of about $40-60k in equity. I would like to think that I learned some things though and perhaps next time I will be better equipped to handle the situation. I am, however, happy that I am having SOME positive success lately, including a win tonight in the UB $120 bounty. Not exactly a life changing win but its the first time I shipped an MTT in seemingly ages. Nice to get that monkey off my back, now I just hope I can pile up some more wins in the near future. I don't think I played great or anything tonight, but I did hit hands when I needed to and sucked out in a big spot 6 handed. Also was nice to see most of my flips hold and it helped me greatly that Adanthar (A 2p2'er and donkament legend) got coolered to go out in 4th (maybe 5th) and USCphildo (another donkament reg and good player) went out in 6th because it left me with the 2 of the weak spots at the table 3 handed. At the very least, the last few days is plugging the constant flow of money that was leaving my bankroll (for now at least).
In other news, I have a rather large real estate deal I am hoping to complete that would give me some nice passive income to work with which is always good. I have also been working on my first "classroom" type video for this site so I am looking forward to seeing how it comes out, it will be a series on tournaments and the first of the videos will be a Powerpoint presentation. Should be interesting if nothing else.
Lastly, I know I have made some promises with Tourney Trax but version 1.0 is almost here. I should be uploading it in a few days and can start getting orders. It will be $30 and I will be accepting payments on Stars and FTP for now. More on that when I actually get it out.

Man i seen your 1mill exit, i follow alot off your games, u prob seen me in the chat as donegal rules, i have to say wen u raised wit 77 and u got min re raised by the eventual winner it was pretty obv he had pocket As even Ks. cos u saw yourself he done the exact same thing not 15hands be4 and he didn't seem to have meta game in his arsenal , i was really hoping u hit your set on the flop wen u wen all in, though it would made no deference wen he made his set on the turn, u had a real shot at taking it down as well, unlucky dude.

He had AA the hand before and 3bet pre from the blinds then checked on a similar flop and snap called an allin. Now this hand came and he 3bet again preflop and this time lead out almost full pot with no real draws out there and I told myself if he lead a dry pot I was going to get it in because he showed a tendency to c/r. The biggest mistake I made on the hand was even playing it after the 3bet. This was compounded by a few other mistakes, oh well, there is always another MTT.

Since you're not busy enough already, have you ever considered a column on your technology setup and all
the software tools you think are valuable? I've always
wondered how many/what size monitors, workstation speed etc
how many workstations, etc. Real tech stuff. Also, what programs do you have open and do you find most useful while MTTing?

I think your experience in this area could be pretty informative and valuable to us. On the other hand,
maybe I"m the only one who hasn't figured out the optimal
setup yet!

Thanks Justin.
