Identity theft? No, just idiots as usual.

Incompetence is far and away the most irritating thing in the world to me, except maybe mosquito bites. People who have a specific job to do, and fail miserably at it and cause other people problems, really ought to be lined up against a wall and shot. Well of course I don't believe they should be shot, but they should definitely not be allowed to reproduce.

Today I was getting out of a cab and pulled out my amex to pay (isn't New York the sickest?), and it got declined. I thought it was bizarre, especially because I had paid my bill not even two days ago. I got upstairs and called Amex and the conversation went something like this:

"Hi, my card didn't work today, is there a problem with my account?"

"Yes Daniel Stern sir, hello. Your account has been canceled."

"What? Why? I don't understand."

"Credit Delinquency"

"What the fuck does that mean? I have never missed a bill, and I have no bad credit"

"Well sir, we got a report from Experian showing a credit delinquency"

"What is it from?"

"Sorry sir we do not have that information."

WTF? I go on freecreditreport which links me to Experian and I review my credit report. On the account there is another name which is fairly similar to my own, with about 7 different bank accounts and 5 different addresses and an incorrect DOB listed. None of the information has anything to do with me, and I am pretty flabbergasted. My initial reaction was that it was some sort of identity theft. I call experian and the lady informs me that if it were identity theft, there would be no secondary names, just lots of missing money!

Well what a relief! So why I ask the lady, did this happen? She informs me that it was an error on experians part, some sort of typo perhaps? For the next 30 minutes we go through all the bank accounts and addresses and other erroneous information and remove it from my account. Is there any sort of accountability on the part of experian? No of course not. Fuck around with someones life because some gorilla brained drone at experian confused Stern with Sternfeld, and now I have no American Express card. Any sort of compensation? No. I now have to wait for my credit to be restored and then I get to reapply for an Amex!

FUCK YOU EXPERIAN.
