I got back to New York yesterday, after a 9 day trip to Los Angeles for the LA Poker Classic. I played a ton of live NL games, and it was a good experience to mix it up from online to live games. Overall I made a decent clip for the week, but I could have made a lot more if I didn't lose a 100k pot at 100/200 with just a day left on the trip. It was a really tough hand, that I am not sure I could have gotten away from. In limped pot I flopped top and bottom pair versus Bradley Bermans middle set, and the pot just got really big really quick and we got it in on the turn with me drawing to two outs. Earlier in the week I won a 95k pot though, so overall I did win my biggests, and lose my biggest pots ever this week. As for the tournament, I busto'd on day 2 making a pretty stupid play. I opened UTG to 1800 at 300/600 with AQo, was called by a very tight button, who had around 36k (about the same as me), and the BB shortstack shoved for about 10k. I though I could get the button to fold everything up to and possibly including JJ, so I reshoved hoping to isolate. He thought for an eternity and called with QQ, and BB tabled AK, which meant i was quasi drawing dead preflop. woo. I'm having another great month online though, coupled with a solid week of live play, I am feeling great about my game right now. |
"Limped pots in live play"

Ansky,
I notice that you made said your big loss came from a limped pot. I've noticed that in live play people are much more inclined to limp rather then fold or raise like they do online (although my games are not nearly as high as 100-200). Do you thing that more people are inclined to limp in live play? and How do you or would you adjust to people limping a lot? Is limping as well a +EV play in some spots rather then raising?
