Main Event, day 1 report from Ansky. 4 July 2008, 2:02.

Just finished day 1a at the main event. Some hands:

Tourney guy from detroit raises to 500 in EP at 100/200. 1 caller in mp, i make it 2k in the bb w/ queens and 15k stack. detroit reraiss to 5500 or so, mp folds and i fold after some thought.

tourney pro raises emp i flat KJo next to act. HU to the flop it comes TT6r, ck ck. turn ace ck ck. river he bets 2/3 pot and i snap fold and say "ace jack definitely good." he shows AJ.

I raise KK w/ like 18k to 300 at 50-1, next to act, uber nit british guy makes it 800, 1 cold caller from a blind, i just call. i have the king of spades. Flop A73 all spades, cked to british guy who bets 1200, blind folds i call. turn Ax. I check he bets 2400 and I say ill give him 200 dollars to show me a hand other than ak. he has ak.

Here is the real gem of the day: UTG raises to 1100 at 200/400 i call 22 next to act. 50k stacks all around. british guy from before makes it 3000, folds around to me and I call. flop comes T48 2 hearts. i check, he bets 3k. I call. I was not sure whether or not i wanted to go into my though process for my call down here. Basically I think i had a big bet sizing tell on him. Turn is an offsuit 7. I check, he bets 6000 and i call. River pairs the ten, i check and he bets 7500. I think for 20 seconds and call. he has AKo. BOOYAH.

Then I was close to 80k, when I missed a big 12 out semi bluff in a ~35k pot, and bled back down to 47k or so by the end of the day.

Overall I think I played absolutely great, and I am ready to keep going. I can't keep my hopes up for the main event though, as theirs still probably like 3842309852103985 people left.

Play resumes on tuesday, so I have some time to chill out.

P.S.: I invented a new term today. Gorilla stomping is when you absolutely run over your table like a Gorilla running over a bed of flowers.
