After this winter, I've started to get a little better at skiing. This is convenient, as I may have no choice but to take refuge in the mountains at some point in my lifetime: http://archives.cnn.com/2001/TECH/science/08/29/tidal.wave/index.html.
Cliff notes: A massive volcano eruption in the Canary Islands will cause the largest landslide ever, and thus cause the largest tsunami ever, wreaking havoc on North Africa, parts of Western Europe, and much of the Eastern coasts of the Americas. When? Some time between now and the next several hundred years.
Sucks for us.

That's why I moved to the Upper West Side--much more inland and safer than the Upper East Side.

Hey, I grew up on the upper west side, sweet.
I never knew about that cartoon, makes sens though because last weeks economist had a cover cartoon of "how china sees the world" and it was sorta in reverse. pretty cool.
