New Years Resolutions

The most important thing for me in the new year will be volume. Volume and dedication will be the only way I can meet my expectations for 2009. I want to make sure I am doing at least 5 hours of coaching a week. I am upping my prices to 650 an hour (with 50 off for booking 5, and 100 off for booking 10), except of course to my existing students.

If I can average 5 hours at 600 an hour every week, thats 150k right there, with no variance at all.

Beyond that, in the poker world, my resolutions are simple. 1) Play at least 500k hands.

2) Make at least $1.50 a hand.

3) Never get in a funk.

Number 3 is very important for me. My biggest weakness on downswings is that I lose all interest in playing, and I take a lot of time off. This is a vicious cycle because I play my worst when I don't put in a lot of hands. If I can stay focused and just put in the volume to get out of the downswings I keep up with my goals.

Short and sweet for today.

You mention you don't like to take breaks whenever you're on a downswing. I suffer from the same problem. Every time I have a bad week, I take out my BR and start saying to myself all the time I put in poker ain't worth it. Even tough I make more in one week than most of my friends do in half a year, I get too afraid of loosing more, and I am mostly afraid of not being among the 20 % winning players. Normally it works, but every time I return to poker, I start more focused and motivated than before. The thing is, I am afraid of joining the stakes I normally play, and start playing at the lower stakes. And this results in me making less money than i normally would. In other words, I have a problem with my confident in my poker abilities. How can i improve my confidence?

Exactly the same is relevant for me, just took one month off. But the upside of this is: good to know one is not addicted to gambling.
