PLO LESSONS: Part 2

Just looking at the 3bet pot where you check raised. You are critical of of villains pot size cbet. In Hold em a lot of coaches recommend making smaller cbets than normal in 3bet pots (closer to 1/2 potsize than 3/4). Can the same ever apply in Omaha or are we just pricing in a wider calling range on the flop while reducing our fold equity? I understand board texture/villain are also important. Thanks, Gary.

PLO LESSONS: Part 2

yes if we are talking about the 4677ds hand, then i think that's a really good example of bad bet sizing. When villain pots the flop, he is pot committed. So what he has done is told me that any light hand i have that i was thinking about turning into a semi bluff, i have to fold. He will never induce someone to stack off light thinking 'i can push him off AAxx here'; when someone shoves against that type of bet it's always with the top of their range and they fold out the middle/bottom end which is why it is so bad in this instance.

In terms of bet sizing in general, this question came up on 2+2 recently in this thread where i questioned hero's bet sizing. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/38/small-stakes-pl-omaha/aak9-double-s...

there is a lot you can write on bet sizing in general, so it's difficult to try and sum it up with some bite-sized quotes. I think when making a bet, think about how polarized the board is, your perceived range, villains range and what your ideal outcome of this current street would be. It's true that by potting it that we increase fold equity and reduce implied odds, but we hardly ever induce someone to spew with a psb, and when we pot we often narrow villain to the top end of his range when obviously we would rather play against his whole range.
