PLO LESSONS: Part 3

At ~14:30-15min you are talking about how you have 12 outs (I guess 9 flush outs + 3 jacks) As you put villain on at least nut straight that discounts 1 J which would leave us at either 8 flush outs+3 J’s (Villain: Jd***) or 9 flush outs + 2 J’s (Villain has non Jd). Im just guessing here but that prolly shoots up the “need to win $X to BE” about 15% or so right?

Just interested if my way of thinking about the outs is accurate or not.

PLO LESSONS: Part 3

yes you are right. If villain has the non-nut straight then we have 12 outs and my calculations are correct. If Villain has the nut straight then he does indeed take one of our outs (a jack) this leaves us with 11 outs and we would then need to win $30.90 otr, which i think is feasible against this particular villain (fold to river bet 58%, which is on the low side). In the video i said he 'certainly' has the nut straight, which i probably used to over-emphasize the point - obviously it looks extremely likely he has the nut straight, but non-nut straight cannot be excluded from his range.

Ofc, we can only speculate about villains exact holding in this instance; he could also be holding blockers to the flush draw which while decreasing our chances of hitting, against this particular villain will certainly increase the chances of us being paid off.

In this particular instance the turn isn't a fist pump call, but given villain stats i think it's +ev.

Yeah I know we cant be putting him on exactly 1 hand but given the fact that he does indeed rep the nut straight (then again instapotting from a fishy player can be whatever straight that he got happy about) discounting that J will cut our "prolly getting his whole stack cards" by 25% which is a lot. I do think this spot is +ev, but just that if it were a closer spot stack- or villain-vise discounting that J can make all the difference.

I dont think we should be discarding flush outs because that is just random guessing, but when we put him on a hand we are trying to draw out on and we take to account that if a J hits he will pay off cuz he has made the same straight we need to account for that one imo. It certainly helps that even if the J hits he will prolly call with the turned 68** straight

And holy shit with need to win $20 jumping to $30 when we lose just 1 out Shocked

PLO LESSONS: Part 3

Hi!

I'm fairly new to PLO and the HUD you use during the vids. What are those stats and can you tell me which of those that are good for a beginning player like myself? Anyway it would be good to know all the stats on your hud to really follow the thinking better.

Thanks for the good videos!
