The state of the NL poker economy is not dire, but it is certainly at its most bizarre state ever. Game selection is at all time high level of nittiness. You simply hardly will ever see a reg playing another reg at any stakes between 2/4 and 200/400. There is no such thing as 50/100, 100/200, 200/400 or 300/600. It just hardly ever exists anymore. There are the random hu matches that happen and the very occasional 6max games that run, but I'd be shocked if a total of 100k hands get played this year at all at those stakes on either full tilt or stars. 25/50 is the toughest game on the internet. I am not so sure about this one, but 25/50 6max hardly ever runs on ftp anymore, and the stars games are either rampant with shortstackers or are filled with regs. What on earth has the advent of absurd nosebleed stakes really done for online poker? I really don't understand it. Sites do not make more money off of a 500-1k game than a 5/10 game, if they do it is negligible. All that happens now is fish bust super quick, and the rich get richer. It seems pretty unquestionably detrimental to the online poker economy to have ultra high stakes games. In the last month or so I have really started to reconsider my goals in online poker. Why do I want to move back up to 25/50 asap? Why wouldn't I prefer to 9 table 5/10 / 10/20 instead of ~3 table 25/50? It's a tougher game w/ higher variance and a lower win rate for myself. If I stick to mid/high stakes I can guarantee to myself a pretty hefty sample size of hands this year. It is pretty reasonable to play 500k hands of 5/10 and 10/20. It is not reasonable to do the same w/ 25/50. Maybe I will have a change of heart, but for right now I am very interested in simply being a grinder. I never thought I'd see myself this way, but it seems the best option right now. edit: I forgot to put up a link or video. Here it is: i want to have my life saved by spider man. |

ansky, youre the only player worth following on this site and i really like that youre trying to blog more because I for one find it interesting. youre an amazing player.

LMFAO @ Ansky having to fork it up for posting a blog with no video 1 day in basically... hahaha. I do love your work though man, and some really good points in that blog. But i guess it's all really about exposure in FTP's eyes, so the bigger the games, the more exposure for their site i guess, thus generating other funds to come into the system.
