I began taking poker seriously around five years ago when I got my first decent five figure MTT score. In the twelve months preceding that, I had been focussing on MTT’s more and more as I considered them the softest poker game available online, and although I thoroughly enjoyed poker I knew I wasn’t quite good enough or committed enough to be able to grind the cash games, and I found NLHE six max/ring a little dull. I always look back in this period with a wry smile as it has taught me that it doesn’t matter how well you consider your game at the moment, if you don’t look back a couple of years later and see a dramatic improvement then you are doing it wrong. Poker is constantly evolving and it requires a solid work ethic just to stand still, and in order to progress you really have to put the hard yards in.
So around four years ago I decided to try pot limit Omaha. After some initial success in some very soft games i started to get bogged down; I was 5-6 tabling PLO50 ring games, and although I was making a small amount of money I felt I should be capable of better. So I tried to source some decent PLO literature, as I felt my current bible (SS2) was slightly out of date! After a rather fruitless search I signed up and began posting at 2+2 where my game immediately began to kick on. It has enabled me to form a solid study group, make some good friends and also alerted me to the vast library of videos available online to assist with tuition.
Skip forward three years and I have gone from a breakeven player to one who is far more accomplished in all aspects, from fundamental planning and preparation through to technical analysis. I have made mistakes along the way, and my coaching is designed to help you avoid the mistakes and plug the leaks it took me tens of thousands of hands to find and correct. Poker is a truly amazing game, the lifestyle opportunities being a professional player offers you are excellent and I feel I am very lucky to be able to make a modest living from poker.
