We have detected that you are based in the United States. Unfortunately, due to the vague and uncertain legal and regulatory environment in the United States, PokerSavvy does not allow United States residents to sign up for SavvyPoints or rakeback offers at real money poker rooms. We regret that we need to do this and hope that the US government will soon clarify the law and create a framework that allows US-based poker players to play the game they love safely and openly. We encourage you to contact your Congressperson to express your view that poker is not, and should not, be illegal and we encourage you to support candidates at all levels that share that view.

In the meantime, we welcome you to check out PokerSavvy Plus, our poker training product that is fully accessible to United States residents. Thanks for your understanding.

Review of Play Poker Like the Pros by Phil Hellmuth

0 Reviews (Login to Write a Review)

Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros was released at the start of the poker boom. The title of the book is very misleading, because if you play like it says to in the book, then you would be blinded away and not have much of a chance of winning. A more appropriate title would be "How to play the 10 best hands you can be dealt preflop".

The strategies in this book are more suited to the ultra-tight games of yesteryear. In today's fast and aggressive hold 'em games, you cannot wait to be dealt a premium hand. Hellmuth does not go over physical tells or any percentages, but goes on to tell you about the strength of a hand preflop and that in the long run they should hold up. He does discuss some strategy on how to play against different types of opponents (rock, maniac, etc).

I would rate this book a 2. A waste of time to any reader other than the newest of players. After reading this book, it is easy to see why Phil is such a brat. If you played the style he presents in the book, you are a sitting duck just waiting to be sucked out on.
